Chapter History

SHPE at Florida International University was founded with the purpose of empowering Hispanics in STEM and providing them with the necessary tools to become the next generation of leaders in the industry. Our members cultivate their professional & social growth through various types of programs, workshops, networking events, and various leadership opportunities.

With South Florida having a rapidly increasing Hispanic population of around 70% and FIU Engineering of 65%, SHPE has seen rapid growth over the last couple of years providing the perfect platform for the Hispanic community to reach its full potential.

Familia and growth are the two philosophies that distinguish SHPE from the rest of the organizations at FIU and have shown by the high member engagement and involvement we have been witnessing.
